Jason "Jasoul" Guerpo was born and raised on the Big Island of Hawaii. At the age of ten, his journey in dance began at beaches and parks, doing flips and tricks. With no real formal dance resource available, he naturally gravitated towards the original street dance of Hip Hop; B-Boying (break dancing). Approaching early adulthood, this self taught dancer moved to the state capital, Honolulu, to test his skills against the best. Wasting no time, he quickly became a dominating force, winning various local competitions including the prestigious Rock Steady Crew's "Frienemies" 1 on 1 battle. This allured him to seek competition on a national and world level and prompted him to move to the entertainment capital of the world, Las Vegas, Nevada. In 2008 Jasoul left Hawaii to pursue Breakin. Here is where his growth spurt in Breakin occurred from novice to professional. Having the opportunity to train alongside some of the best, he represented the US in all the major international championship competitions and would find himself performing in various nightly shows on the las vegas strip. Jasoul has become one of the elite professionals in the Breakin world. In addition to reigning in the competitive BBoy circuit, Jason books industry work. His uncanny ability to learn quick has enabled him to book work in other dance styles such as Hip Hop and body percussion. Notably, he has danced nightly at the Jabbawockeez MUS.I.C production in the Monte Carlo. Jason is currently collaborating with his brother, Randon DPT, in a movement-science oriented system called BTR BREAKIN. They have identified the principles and reverse engineered the movements common to traditional and contemporary Breakin. These elements were then translated to movement patterns so it can be integrated to fitness performance. Vicariously, they have optimized the learning and training process with the latest research on biomechanics, motor learning, athletic development, and communication advancements. This has made for a safer, effective, and ultimately sustainable environment to practice in.
