Pointe/Pre Pointe

Home / Pointe/Pre Pointe

Pointe class may be taken by students who are not yet on pointe to further develop and strengthen the muscles necessary to go on pointe.  Students who are on pointe must take at least two additional ballet classes per week. Readiness for pointe work is determined by each student’s strength and physical development, not by their age. The instructor will advise parents when a student has the necessary strength and maturity to go on pointe. Pointe class may be taken only with the permission of the instructor.

All of our pointe/pre-pointe classes stress correct placement (body alignment), and correct classical ballet technique. Class level is determined by the instructor and is based on an individual assessment when the student takes a trial class. All students receive corrections during class to help them advance. Students advance to the next level based on the recommendation of the instructor. No students can go into pointe shoes without approval from the teacher and after an assessment from the physical therapist.

Pointe Assessment

All students wanting to go on to pointe must also be assessed by a licensed physical therapist for adequate strength and balances and physical structure of the student. We require this for the protection of the student. We want to make sure they are 100% ready for this major transition and want them to do this in a safe manner.

Class Attire

We require all dancers to wear a black leotard with pink ballet or pointe shoes and pink tights.

No coverups or skirts are allowed.

Hair must be pulled back up a bun.
