Classes emphasize the development and strengthening of basic ballet technique and terminology highlighting the importance of classic ballet moves such as plie, first and second positions. Ballet emphasizes the outward rotation of the legs/feet, and specified positions of the torso, shoulders, arms, and head.. This class is set for the younger students and will take these basic ballet skills and combine them with gross motor skills such as hopping, skipping and jumping. We take these basic techniques and work on them across the floor.
During the tap portion of this class, the instructor will work development and strengthening of basic tap technique and terminology highlighting the importance of rhythm and sound. Tap focuses on rhythms and intricate footwork, creating a percussion instrument out of the dancer’s feet. This class is set for the younger students and will take these basic tap skill and combine them with gross motor skills such as hoping, skipping and jumping. We take the basic techniques and work on them across the floor.
All of our combo classes stress correct placement (body alignment), and correct classical ballet and tap technique. Class level is determined by the instructor and is based on an individual assessment when the student takes a trial class. All students receive corrections during class to help them advance. Students advance to the next level based on the recommendation of the instructor.
We require all dancers to wear any color leotard with pink ballet shoes and pink tights for the ballet portion of the class and tan tap shoes for the tap portion.
Skirts or tutus are allowed.
Hair must be pulled back into a ponytail.
